Obituary of Julia Marie Weber

Julia Marie Weber (Buhr) passed away on March 19th, 2020 at her nursing home.  She was born on August 12, 1921 in Tacoma, Washington and grew up there with her immigrant German parents Anton and Julia and her 5 siblings, Tony, Emma, Jeff, Albert and Josephine. She is survived by her older brother Jeff  (Gerhart) and her twin sister Josephine. She was a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Sumner and an active member of the Altar Society.

Julia was a Catholic and attended St. Leo’s School and graduated from there.  She and Jo went to St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Tacoma and graduated as Registered Nurses while their brothers served in the military during WWII.  After graduation she married Orval Weber who lived in Tacoma just a few blocks from her house.

She continued with her nursing career at the Auburn Doctors Clinic while raising her three children, James, Patrick and Janet. Julie and Orval bought a small house in rural Federal Way in 1947, and completely remodeled it and more than doubled its size to fit their family needs.  She lived in the house for over 70 years.  Julie and Orval loved family activities, soccer, baseball, dancing and to travel throughout the United States.  She had a very close extended family and continued with large annual family picnics until she was 90.  A favorite family activity was to celebrate her birthday with her twin sister and to double the number of candles on the cake (for twins). At her 95th birthday there were 190 candles and impossible to blow them out, but everyone enjoyed the event.

While her husband Orval passed away in 2008, she remained at the house until in her 90’s when she moved to a local nursing home.  Forever a nurse and a helping person, Julie loved to help everyone at the nursing home and was always a cheerful person.  She loved visits even when her memory was fading and she especially liked visitors to bring her Oreo cookies. Whenever she had visitors she would stand up clap her hands and extend her arms for a hug.  Julie is survived by her three children, Jim, Pat and Janet, 6 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. She was well loved by her family and will be missed.

Julie was buried at Gethsemane Cemetery in Fife with a small gathering of family. We are sorry, but due to Covid-19 gathering restrictions, Julie was buried with a limited number of family members present and Fr. Jerry Burns of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Sumner. A Memorial Mass at St. Andrew Catholic Church will be planned for the future when restrictions are removed.
