Sandy Fitzwater

Obituary of Sandy Fitzwater

“Sandy” Claudia Sandra Hendricks Fitzwater (78) of Kitsap and Mason Counties, Washington, passed away in Tacoma, WA on April 6, 2023, and is finally resting in the arms of her beloved husband, Darrell Fitzwater, who preceded her in death. Sandy is survived by her sisters, Linda Dougherty and Dianna Eve Gaines, her children, Terry Drowns of Kingston, WA, Darran Harwell of Suquamish, WA, Tami Bora (Brad) of Des Moines, WA, Michele Fuller (Aaron) of Bonney Lake, WA, step children, Anthony Fitzwater and Christine Fitzwater, her many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her “baby,” (dog) Josephine. She will be missed dearly by so many, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again, for our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Sandy was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on August 15, 1944 to "Billie" Willie Lou Browning and Wade Hampton Hendricks. She attended Turkey Creek High School in Plant City. She is described by her loved ones as an incredibly strong, selfless, caring, funny, witty, sarcastic, compassionate, kind and loving wife, friend, sister, mom, grandma and aunt. She always put her family first. She absolutely loved holidays and preparing meals for everyone. She looked forward to going to work every day at North Shore Towing in Belfair, Washington, for several years. Before that, she was a bartender at HD’s Tavern in Belfair. Sadly, in 2018, she was diagnosed with cancer. Even after her diagnosis, she continued working until she retired just a few years ago. Sandy inspired those who knew her in so many ways. Her loved ones are thankful she is no longer in pain and is now reunited with Darrell, the love of her life. This isn't truly an end, but a new beginning. Love never dies.
