Obituary of Mark William Longanecker

Mark William Longanecker, age 67, of Puyallup, Washington, passed away May 3rd, 2023, surrounded by loved ones and is now with his Savior in heaven.

Mark was born in Seoul, South Korea and later raised by parents Ralph and Bernice Longanecker in South Florida. He graduated from Hialeah High School in 1973 and made a career in the IT project management field with degrees from Seattle University, Stevens Institute of Technology, and Washington State University. Mark thoroughly enjoyed his most recent employment at Washington Military Department at Camp Murray.

Mark met his wife of 45 years, Barbara, at the age of 6 in church. They were teenaged sweethearts, married and had 4 children, and 2 grandchildren. Mark had many loves, first and foremost God and his family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and kept us all laughing. He loved traveling, sports, history, current events, and Hallmark movies. He will be missed forever by his family.

Mark is survived by wife, Barbara, children, Katherine Tate (husband Aaron), Elizabeth, Matthew, and Thomas Longanecker, and his brother Clay Longanecker. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters Ada Kendall and Maxine Killingsworth, brothers Curtis Stewart and Thomas Stewart.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Woodbine Cemetery 2323 9th St SW, Puyallup, WA 98373 at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to some of Mark’s favorite charities - Tunnels to Towers, VFW, Boys Town, Wounded Warrior, Samaritan’s Purse, Salvation Army, or St Jude Hospital.
