Obituary of Sandra Larimore

Sandra Ann Larimore passed away peacefully in Puyallup, on October 12, 2023, at the age of 88 after a courageous battle with dementia.

Sandy was born in Fargo, North Dakota in 1935 to her parents Rolla and Velma Briscoe. She was the oldest of 4 children, Brother Charles and Sisters Hollace and Bonnie. In 1942 the Briscoe family moved to Washington State.

Sandy grew up on McNeil Island in Steilacoom, where her dad worked for the State Department of Corrections. She was the big sister who took care of everyone, including all the kitties on the Island. To attend school, she took the ferry to the ‘main land’, graduating from Clover Park High School in 1953. As a young adult, she moved to Tacoma into the YWCA and attended classes at Clover Park Tech, then took a job at Tacoma Title Company. While living at “The Y”, she met a handsome U.S. Air Force boy named Larry Larimore. They were married on September 7, 1956. Shortly thereafter, the newlyweds moved to Puyallup and had 3 children, Mike, Larry and Jennie. They remained in Puyallup for the rest of their days, minus a short stint, living in Battle Ground Washington.

After Mike was born, Sandy quit her work at Tacoma Title and devoted her life to her husband and children. 2 weeks every summer was spent camping, where the family hunted and fished in Washington, Idaho and Montana. Fall was devoted to bird hunting in Eastern Washington most every year. As the children got older Sandy spent several years volunteering at the Children’s Home Society. After the kid’s graduations, she took a job at The Diet Center, whose weight loss plan she whole heartedly believed in.

Sandy loved cats, so kitties were always around. Gray tabbies were her favorite. She loved to sew, Days of our Lives and Johnny Carson. She was a good cook and got up early to make our lunches every day. She made cookies by putting frosting between two graham crackers and sandwiches from a pink meat spread called Bologna Salad. Both were delicious. When we were out of ice cream after dinner she made something called bread cake. White bread with milk and sugar on it. It wasn’t good. She made the best mushroom stuffing in the world. She loved to watch The Seahawks and The Mariners on TV. She was loved by all our friends. She was a great mother-in-law. Sandy loved air travel, but Dad didn’t, so later in life she vacationed with Jennie to Palm Springs, Orlando, Nashville, Dallas, a Caribbean cruise and Hawaii. As she got older she was devoted to keeping her mind active and loved jigsaw puzzles and Sudoku. She loved Dove dark chocolates. A glass of red wine every night while she prepared dinner was doctors’ orders, according to Sandy. She loved her 2 grandkids, Matthew and Justin.

Sandy was a spiritual being, always researching different philosophies and beliefs. Ultimately devoted to Jesus, in the early days she was no stranger to Astrology, Numerology and zodiac signs. Give her a few details about yourself and she’d whip you up an astrology chart, compatibilities and your horoscope like nobody’s business. These old charts…. drawings really; with pie slices, known as houses are still in boxes around their house. She never threw anything away.

We laugh that we ate all the Teflon from her pots and pans, which we think were wedding gifts from 1956 and are no longer Teflon coated. We thought it was pepper in the mashed potatoes. It wasn’t.

Sandy is survived by her son, Mike Larimore; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Valerie Larimore; daughter and son-in-law, Jennie and Kevin Haugen; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Justin and Allison Larimore; granddaughter-in-law, Danielle Larimore; and great-grandchildren, Olivia Grace and Rylan Matthew Larimore. Her sister Bonnie and nieces and nephews.

She was welcomed to heaven by her husband Larry, her parents, Brother Charlie, Sister Holly, her aunts and uncles and her Grandson, Matthew Allen Larimore.

Sandy will be laid to rest at Woodbine Cemetery in Puyallup WA on October 26, 2023 @ 1pm. Everyone who loved her is welcome
